O n ne peut sus-pecter le motif qui le poussa a ecrire sur les pantomimes ; ses idees se suivent , il ne se contredit nulle part; de plus, ce n'est pas le seul autcur qui parle avec enthousiasme de ces anciens spectacles. INe demandons que ce qui est raisonnable et naturel, pour rendre une pantomime vraiment interessanle et agreable ; n'allons pas plus loin : si nous depassons les homes que l'art et le bon sens ont elevees, nos efforts seront infructueux. E n general, ils ressemblent autant que possible aux choses qu'ils doivent representer, c'est leur principal objet.
