Francisco entre alors, et informe son maitre que tout est prSt ponr son depart; et en I'entendant, les jeunes filles lais_ sent paraitre des signes de satisfaction. Le maitre i danser se retire_, et don Alvares prenant conge de ses filles , suit Francisco. Rosalba et Antonina rap-pellent chacune a Mariquette sa commission, etse retirent. * an un ACTE SECOND. Vue deface de la maison d'Alvares. Un cabinet de verdui a droite; un cabinet de verdure a gauche,- un arbre milieu. Le tout represente un beau jardin entoure d' haut mur, dans lequel se trouve une porte. SCENE I.-La porte est entr'ouverte, et Pascal entre en regardant avec pre'eaution autour de lui- il vient au rendez-vous ; sa bien-aime'e ne parait pas, et il Pattend avec anxie'te'. O n entend un le'ger bruit-craignant d'etre de'eouvert, Pascal se cache derriere Parbre. SCENE II. - Mariquette quittela maison et va vers la porte du jardin, attendant Ignatio. Pascal Yob-serve , et se prepare a lui faire uue malice; elle parait inquiete du retard de Pamant d'Antonina. Pascal le remarque , suppose sa maitresse inconstante, et donne aussitot des signes de jalousie : pour mieux observer ce qui va suivre , it grimpe sur un arbre; et se met entierement hors de la vue des curieux. La suivante court informer sa maitresse de Parrive'e du jeune amoureux, qui donne tous les signes possibles de joie et de reconnaissance, et elle va le conduire a ce rendez-vous extraordinaire. Pascal s'apercevant alors de l'e'lat reel de Tin-trigue, se calme, et rit de son erreur. SCENE IV. - Mariquette et Anlonina paraissent; le couple amoureux exprime son bonheur d'etre reuni, et la bonne suivante les en felicite l'un et l'autre. Le temps s'e'coulant vile, et Mariquette ayant d'ailleurs d'autres affaires eu tete, leur rappelle que pour e'viter d'etre decouverts, ils aient a mieux se cacher, et sur ce, Antonina engage son amant a se cacher dans le cabinet de verdure a gauche , lui promettant de venir le retrouver bientot. Mariauette les interrompt de nouveau et se depeche de s'en al-ler pour Parrive'e de Pedro, qu'elle doit aussi introduire secretement. Pascal semble se rejouir decette intrigue nouvelle , et impatient d'y jouer son role. SCENE V. - Don Pedro arrive. Pascal est encore une fois plus etonne; Mariquette est de retour, et. court au-devant de Pedro; elle Pinforme qu'tt ne tardera pas a voir Rosalba; le jeune homme promet de bien la re'eompenser, et la conjure de ne pas le faire a!tendre, car il meurt d'impatieuce de voir sa bien-aime'e. SCENE VI. -Pedro se livre a tous les transports de la passion ; il tire de son sein un portrait de Rosalba et le presse sur ses levres, et tirant son e'pee , il jure a sa belle une fidelite e'ternelle , et de punir le te'me-raire qui oserait l'offenser. Ignatio , de'sirant savoir la cause du retard d'Antonina , entr'ouvre la porte du cabinet de verdure ou il est, apercoit aussitot Pamant furibond; frappe de crainte a Paspect de ses gestes menacans, il tire la porte ct la referme sur-le-cbamp. |
