ON pre'sente ici au lecteur diffe'rentes especes de ballets, chacun traite' dans un style particulier a sa classe. Dans ces esquisses , I'auteur s'est efforce d'agrandir la sphere de cette espece de composition en introduisant une grande variete' de sujets , en produisant des contrastes plus frappans entre les sentimens et les passions, et en donnant a certaines scenes qui n'avaient pas encore e'te adapte'es aux ballets leur ton convenable d'expression. J'ai souvent considere le ballet comme une espece de poeme ou de roman reduit a ces regies et a ces principes dramatiques qu'il faut observer dans toute production theatrale. Les compositions qui peuvent parler a 1 ceil et interesser le cceur , doivent etre honorees de la meme attention que toute production des beaux-arts; car, qu'est-ce qu'un bon ballet classique, si ce n'est un tableau mouvant pare des charmes d'une musique bien adaptee ? On a juge' ne'eessaire de rappeler ici quelques observations faites dans la quatrieme partie de cet ouvrage. En composant des programmes pour des ballets, il faut remarquer, premierement , que le programme peut plaire au lecteur sans servir a JC*' -»• |
