Show ll2 Figure 6 theoretical advance came with his consideration of the mechanical properties of fibers at Princeton and later at Utah. Another Eyring consid- eration of deformation came with his studies of liquids and greases in the l950's and 60's. That was all changed in l970 when A. S. Krausz, from the department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, came to Utah to study with Eyring. Krausz, a mechanical engineer, had a deep interest in deformation and was acquainted with Eyring's work in the field. Their collaboration re- sulted in a rekindling of Eyring's interest in the subject and perhaps most importantly, a book on the subject by the two men. The book, Deformation Kinetics, was published by John Wiley and Sons in l975. It too has met with some success and will probably have an important impact on the engineering sciences.62 |
