Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

( 404- 401- ) 407 ) : Most of the land lie speaks about that is suitable for development for grain and other agricultural purposes lies ( east cast ) of a line drawn through ( Bland- Bland ) ing . There may be small patches of country west but the greatest part of it is east and north of Blanding and most of the inhabitants of the county live east of Blanding . He has crossed the Colorado River at six places ; ( at -it it ) Little Grand ( Valley VaUey ) , where Moab is , Dandy ( Grossing Crossing ) , Halls Crossing . Dandy Crossing is at the ( mouth niouth ) of White Canyon and ( Halls HaUs ) Crossing is about ( twenty-five twentyfive ) or thirty miles below ( Hole-in- Holein ) ( the-Rock theRock the-Rocl theRocl ) and Lees Ferry . He has not taken cattle across at these places but has ( swam swaui ) horses a good many times . Cattle have been taken across , however . When ( he lie ) referred to the channel of the ( Sail San ) Juan River below ( Chiiile Chinle ) Creek ( he lie ) meant it was confined in a canyon . He has been right down to the river itself below ( Chinle Chiiale ) Creek ; in a dozen places below ( Chinle Chhile ) Creek and where the Goodrich Bridge ( is i's is ) below Mexican Hat .
