At end of Cataract Canyon three boats left ; two boats lost in cataract . ( R . 1399-1400 . ) Provisions lost ; party divided up , five men in one boat with ( Mr Air ) . Stanton ; ( balance balauce ) in two boats went down to placer mines to get provisions . Arrangements to resupply at Lees Ferry , supplies to come overland ( from froin ) Kanab . ( R . 1400 . ) Saw some from placer miners , 12 to 20 men working above mouth of Dirty Devil . ( R . 1400-1401 . ) Half dozen buildings above Hite .
