Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show ISO engaged in ( drilling killing ) for oil and trading with ( theln- theln ) dians . He located some oil claims which he still holds . His supplies and equipment were ( hauled bauled ) down the river by pack outfit and bull ( team teani ) . ( R . . 687-688 ) ( He I-Ic IIc ) did not take any of his supplies down the river by boat and has been on the San Juan River in a boat only to cross it . ( R . ( 688 68S ) . ) During his stay on the San Juan River he took ( twenty-eight twentyeight ) pictures included in Compl . Exhibit No . ( 100 1-00 ) , which represent the stream below Bluff , Utah . These pictures ( were ivere ) taken during different months of different years and represent different stages of water and the nature of the canyons , the latest pictures were taken in 1918 . ( R . 689-693 . ) Photograph marked No . ( 1 I ) is the Big Goose Neck ( twenty-eight twentyeight ) miles west of Bluff and two miles north of the Honaker Trail . Photograph No . 2 is the old steel bridge at ( Good Good- Good ) rich , which was washed away in 1911 ; the big flood . ( R . 690 . ) The road shown goes on out to Moonlight , Kyenta , Arizona , Flagstaff , Tuba City . Photograph No . 3 is the ( Goose-Neck GooseNeck ) . just below the Mendenhall ( Goose-Neck GooseNeck ) . Number 4 is looking up the river from number 2 ( Goose-Neck GooseNeck ) and shows ( Mendenhall's Mendenhalls ) cabin . Number 5 is a cross section of the same ( Goose- Goose ) Neck . |
