He has been on the Colorado River at ( throe three ) points , entering it on the first occasion at ( Hall's Halls ) Crossing , September 8th , 1922 , when he represented the state of Utah on the Colorado River ( Commis Commis- Commis ) sion and went to the river to make general observa , - tion , thinking it might be of use in his ( work Nvork ) and of general value to the state . As he remembers , there were sixteen people in the party , including ( boat- boat ) men . ( R . 2522-2523 . ) It was the same party to which ( Mr Air ) . Thomas testified . He heard the testimony of ( Mr AIr ) . Thomas , his description of the boats used , and noted that he said - the boats ( were Nvere ) twenty feet long with a ( five-foot fivefoot ) beam . In ( his Iiis ) judgment the boats would draw a foot of water loaded . ( R . 2524 . ) They were equipped with outboard motors and lined up in tandem with the motor boat at the stern , two in tandem . He ( didn't didnt ) make any particular effort to memorize incidents but recalls Whirlpool Rapids , and some rapids at the Bed Rock dam site . As he recalls , the party made a stop at Bed Rock Rapids to make a casual examination of the site from standing ( on ou ) the bank .
