Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

( 1288-1289 12SS-12S9 12SS12S9 ) . ) - While traveling up that thirty miles of the ( river I'liver Iliver ) ( lie he ) made some notations on his map during the day . Start was made the next morning at ( 7.55 7.555 ) A . M . , and no camp was made because they reached Moab . He does not know the time that he arrived there . The last note he has is ( passing passhig ) mile 59 at 3.57 P . ( M 11 ) . ( R . 1289 . ) Moab is six miles upstream from that . ( R . 1289 . ) On that day stop was made for lunch ( under -under under ) a ( clift cliff ) , and ate and stayed in the boat . ( R . 1290 . ) He arrived at Moab before dark . During that ( day's days ) travel he made very few ( nota- nota ) tions of that trip up . He was studying the river on the trip up with a different idea in ( mind inind ) . ( R . 1290 . ) He observed much more water on the river from North Wash down to Lees Ferry than from . Moab to the ( confluence coilfluence ) [ of the Green and Colorado Rivers ] . Prom North Wash ( down dowu ) , part of the river was considerably wider than the stretch from Moab to ( tiie the ) mouth of the Green . He is under the ( impres impres- impres ) sion part of it was narrower . The maps would show . ( R . 1290 . ) He repeats that it would have been extremely difficult , and impossible to come up in the boat . . There is no mental reservation .
