Show The usual method followed 731 in such a , siWationy the only method employed on this particular trip was to back off or to pole it off by pushing against the sand bar and backing off ( until uiitil ) we struck deeper water , search around until we found a new ( chan chan- chan ) nel , and try it again . ( ( B R ) . 2831-2832 . ) A boat . hired from the Moab Garage Company was used by his party in carrying on these survey operations on the Colorado River in 1926 . He operated it almost entirely himself . The boat was used to transport them up and down the river in the regular process of carrying on the surveys in meandering ( lines Unes ) . ( R . 2832 . ) It was an Evinrude boat made by the Evinrude , ( Motor 'Kotor Kotor ) Company , about a sixteen foot round bottom boat , drawing about ten or twelve inches with a ( light liglit ) load . ( R . 2832-2833 . ) - In using the boat they were frequently delayed in striking sand bars ; also in shearing off the ( pro- pro ) pellers or striking submerged rocks close to the shore . ( R . 2833 . ) In the operation of a motor the bearings is a source of trouble all the time in ( working -Nvorking Nvorking ) parts of the ( motor inotor ) that were submerged below the water , the propeller blades stirring up the sand and abrasive particles would wear on the bearings , wear off the end of the propeller ; he believes it did require the replacement of one ( pro- pro ) peller blade ( during diiring ) that 1926 season . ( He Ee ) made ( observations obserwitions ) with reference to the changes of the stages of the water of the channel . 11 |
