Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show 716 Wagon road follows Colorado river from Moab to Castle Creek . He also has been on the Colorado ( Elver River ) from Moab bridge down stream to 10 miles below ( Lock-- Lock ) hart . Trip made in May , 1926 . ( R . 2740 . ) Black boat of Moab Garage was operated by Clarence Baldwin . Few ( whirlpools ivhirlpools ) and water ex a tremely slow . ( R . 2741 . ) Had a camp ( at tit ) ( Ming's Mings ) Bottom and brought in supplies at times on barge 7 but rest of time by ( pack paelc ) train . Established a camp ( between beti'veen betiveen ) Nos . ( 1 I ) and 2 wells ; supplies came ( on oil ) pack ( animals ailimals ) on Moab Garage Barge . ( R . 2743 . ) Supplies brought down on barge very uncertain . Mr . ( Swanholm Swailholm ) camped at ( No jN-To jNTo ) . 2 well ; would ( some- some ) times bring supplies in outboard motor ; sometimes left at dock ( on oil ) ( left-hand lefthand ) side of river at No . I well and he would get them by pack train . Crossed Colorado ( River River- River ) ( in 'ill ill ) an outboard motor boat . ( R . 2744 . ) Has seen ( Mr Air ) . ( Yundt's Yundts ) party ford the river ; ( when wben ) fording in a rowboat would turn animals loose and they ( would -would would ) ( swim swirn ) across river . Has seen Moab Garage barge passing , , but ( has bas ) not made a trip on it .
