Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

( R . 1409 . ) Launched on Colorado River , mouth of Crescent Creek ; brought to that point by wagon from Greenriver . ( R . 1410 . ) Party went ( from froin ) ( Green- Green ) river to Crescent Creek across desert by wagon . ( R . 1411 . ) No towns enroute ; ( thunderstorm thuaderstorm ) flooded camp at Crescent Creek , ( drowned drowiied ) two of horses . Did not see any ranches or people between ( Greenriver -Greenriver Greenriver ) and Cresent Creek . ( R . 1411-1412 . ) Boats shipped to Crescent Creek ; did not want second dose of Cataracts . Left Crescent Creek December 10 ; stopped ( Tick- Tick ) aboo Rapids ; boats sprung leak at Trachyte . ( Water AVater ) was lower , had trouble with gravel bars below . ( R . 1414 . ) Placer miners working in Canyon ; one man had been with ( Powell's Powells ) ( expedi expedi- expedi ) tion . ( R . 1414 . ) Saw no other boats on river between Crescent Creek and Lees ( Perry Ferry ) , ( except except- except ) those belonging to miners ; just row boats , sharp bowandstern .
