Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show truck to Johns ( Canyon 0anyon ) . 720 The ( survejr survey ) was confined to the north ( Lank bank ) of the river . ( He Ile ) has never crossed the San Juan River . ( R . 2770-2773 . ) He worked ( along aloug ) the Colorado River from 5 miles above ( Moab Aloab ) Bridge to several miles above mouth of Indian Creek , spending 8 months there , in 1926 , ( starting staxting ) July 30 and ending about 24th of October . ( R . 2773-2779 . ) He crossed the river in a small ( rowboat owboat ) , with outboard motor . He has never crossed Colorado river . ( R . 2780 . ) Camps were established along the river in 1926P and resupplied from time to time by pack string to camp at Island Mesa . Another camp at Grand Landing was established ; supplies were brought down in Moab ( Garage Gaxage ) barge . The camp was moved to Lockhart and supplied by pack string . ( R . 2776-2777 . ) He has been down from below Moab Bridge to lower end of work above Indian Creek , and to Indian Creek in rowboat with outboard motor . ( R . 2773-2774 . ) He ran aground on sand bars , ( which ivhich ) interfered with operation of boats in low stage of water . ( R . 2774 . ) He had temporary camp below Lockhart ( Can- Can ) yon . At a lower stage of water , the channel ( would -would would ) change and sometimes it became necessary to go away down and around a ( bar bar' bar ) and come into camp from the lower side . At other times the channel above would be free and he ( could coidd ) come almost directly into camp .
