Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show ran on to a sand bar on 709 the right side of the river ; ; coming up they avoided that ; going down assumed the best water was over there . He ( doesn't doesnt ) recall what part of the propeller was broken , but remembers it took possibly ( one-half onehalf ) hour or so to repair it . ( ( E R ) . 2714 . ) In the work of meandering a stream the ( sixteen- sixteen ) foot boat with outboard motoy he Was using would 7 sometimes be in ( the tlic ) middle or sometimes along the shore and would be used to cross ( back bacl ) and forth . At times they ( would woald ) beach the boat and at other ' times went right down the river with the meander line . ( ( E R ) . 2715 . ) It would be necessary to hug the bank as ( much inuch ) as he could and ( in hi ) doing this he would sometimes touch sand . At the time he went on the big boat in 1926 to meet ( Mr AIr ) . Moore at Mill Creek , Mr . ( Moore's Moores Moore7s ) ( sur- sur ) veying activities ( were iere ) down the Colorado River east of No . 1 well between No . ( 1 I ) and No . 2 . ( ( E R ) . 2716 . ) He had made an appointment the day before to meet Mr . Moore at the mouth of Mill Creek . There was no dock at this point , nor was it a usual ( stop- stop ) ping place . He requested the man in charge of the boat to go ashore and let him off to keep this ( ap- ap ) ( pointment pointi-nelat pointinelat ) and the boat attempted to do this . To do this the boat did not have to leave the channel .
