Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

( 74.2-WO-L 742WOL ) The survey trip ( he lie ) ( made inade ) in a row boat was the first time ( he lie ) had ever been on the Green or ( Colo- Colo ) rado Rivers , and aside from the data secured and experience had on the boat trip he had no ( other- other ) assistance or ( information inforination ) for operating the City of ( Moal Moab ) on the river . They had a captain along who . carried a ( captain's captains ) papers on the sea . Both the Colorado and the Green Rivers were very muddy . . ( R . 742-743 . ) After going down the river in the small boat making soundings and locating impediments ( to- to to ) navigation , it was decided that although they might have some trouble in navigating the larger ( river river- river ) they ( didn't didnt ) expect the type of trouble that was encountered . It was higher when he went through with a rowboat . ( R . 743-744 . ) He was of the opinion that ( he lie ) could have taken the City of Moab through the Slide at the time ( he- he be- be ) went through with the rowboat but that it could not go through during high water . On the second trip ( with -Nvith Nvith ) the City of ( Moal Aloab ) no ( pur- pur ) pose or objective in making the trip was in mind ; , the boat was ( merely inerely ) taken down as far as ( Valen Valen- Valen ) ( tine's tines ) ( Bottom Botton-i Bottoni ) and because of increasing difficulties in navigation turned around and started back up stream . |
