They seemed large to him , , but he would say that they might have been forty or fifty feet long , approximately half as wide , and he believes the cargo of lumber would extend quite a little distance above the top of the raft . He does not believe that they contained a lot of lumber ; he believes there were several ( thousand thousaiid ) feet . ( R . 2869 . ) There were usually two or three men on the raft with poles . ( R . 2870 . ) In his direct examination he did ( not mot ) imply that supplies of various kinds had not come down tile ( river riIver ) from Moab to the oil wells and Lockhart . He knows that equipment of various kinds , ( includ- includ ) ing machinery and other freight of that character , came up the river to Moab . He recalls that people went down the Colorado River to ( Moab Aloab ) , prior to when the Moab Garage Company started to ( oper- oper ) ate , and he believes they would resupply ( them- them ) selves and continue on their journey but he does not remember . ( R . 2870-2871 . ) He does not know how many trips the Undine made from Greenriver to Moab . He does recall the Undine coming into Moab from some point ( be- be ) low on the river , but does not recall three separate occasions . He does remember several times the boat came , ( "it it ) was quite an event . " ( R . 2872 . ) He could not tell how many ( passengers passeiagers ) were on the Undine on its first arrival at Moab .
