Description	Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929.

OCR Text	Show from the Cisco station by 336 telephone the night before , was approximately six thousand cubic feet per ( see- see ) ond . ( R . 1228-1229 . ) This was at ( Moab Aloab ) , to the best of their ability to estimate it . It is subject to the final official corrections and computations at a later ( dale date ) by the authorities in charge of that com ( ¬ - ) ( putation putatiou ) ; simply got the gauge reading from the field man . ( ( B R ) . 1229 . ) The gauge is at Cisco . They had the Moab ( Garage G-arage Garage ) ( Compaii3r Company's Companys ) ( so-called socalled ) passenger boat . It has been testified that boat was about ( twenty-seven twentyseven tivelity-seven tivelityseven ) feet long , and five feet beam , which is substantially in accordance with his ( recol recol- recol ) ¬ lection . The boat in itself drew comparatively little water , but the propeller projected entirely below the bottom of the boat , and was in turn ( pro- pro ) tected by a quite strong steel guard fastened to the back of the boat and to the boat in front of where the propeller shaft penetrated the bottom . The boat ( squatted sqiiatted ) a little under full speed . In ( other other- other ) words , it drew ( more -more more ) under full speed than when ( going croing ) at less . ( R . 1230 . ) It ran quite smoothly until the water got to be in the neighborhood ( of of' of ) two and a half feet in depth . When the water got to be about two and a half feet , as ascertained by a ( sounding soundinz ) pole ( which iNlhicli ) ( he lie ) carried ( himself hh-liself hhliself ) , it became necessary to slow the boat down to about half speed . If the depth got ( to-be tobe ) about ( two tivo ) feet , the boat ( drag drag- drag ) ¬ ged very perceptibly . If the depth got to about one and a half feet it was necessary for somebody to get out and help steer and push . ( Mr AIr ) . Cecil Thompson , the assistant , had a pair of ( wading iading- iading )
