Show W 410 had a ( sixteen-foot sixteenfoot sixteon-foot sixteonfoot ) open boat ( drawing- drawing drawitig ) about six inches . ( R . 1470 . ) ( Encountered i1countered ) difficulties in the operation of that boat . There were lots of shoals in the river , and with the load which had ( in ill ) the one boat , it ( made inade ) it pretty difficult to get over ( some sonle ) , of those shoals . We had sand waves ; had to be pretty careful ( on oil ) account of the load ; that is all we had ; if ( swamped swaillped ) that , were out of luck . ( R . 1470-1471 . ) When ( on oil ) the move there would be only two ( in ill ) the boat ; there was not ( enough eliough ) room for the ( whole NIiole ) crew . The rest of them went along the ( shore sllorc ) of the river and carried thle line along ; that is , the survey . ( In Ill ) places had to cross back and forth ( on oil ) account of the bends of the river running into the wall . ( R . 1471 . ) On account of the shoals and sand bars it took ( time tiane ) to pick a channel to float the boat through without getting ( stuck stucl1c ) ; had to get out and ( wade -wade wade ) around , locate the channel . The main thing there was sand waves we had to watch out for , not to get caught ( in ill ) them with this load . ( R . 1471-1472 . ) ( He EIe ) came away from the river ( on oil ) about September 10 . The boat was left there for ( Mr AIr ) . ( Wunmer IVimmer ) to haul supplies down to the parties below . The ( sup- sup ) plies were hauled ( in ill ) by truck ( from froni ) ( Salina Salilia ) , ( Utah T-Ttah TTtah ) , ( "and and i'alid ialid ) from the point where the truck was left they were hauled in by wagon down Bull Frog creek to its mouth . " ( R . 1472 . ) The Coast Survey was also ( working vorkiiig ) down the river . ( Mr AIr ) . Hough was ( in ill ) charge . The Coast ( Sur- Sur ) |
