The rock walls , therefore , which are on either side of the river have little or no effect upon the width of the stream . From ( Mill "Afill Afill ) Creek . . ( innue- innue ) diately below ( Moab -Moab Moab ) , the Colorado flows into a canyon which has no open spaces as there are on the Green above the mouth of the San Rafael . . ( R . 352 . ) The Green River from ( Grecnriver Greenriver ) Utah down , , to about three miles below the mouth of the San Rafael is readily accessible ( oil on ) foot or horseback , , but not with motor truck ; there is a road along the east side which is back from the river ; it might bring you within about five miles of the San Rafael , and 011 the west side to within about two miles of the San Rafael . There are such roads as you could walk over at night without killing yourself , which indicates they are not exactly a canyon . ( R . 352- 353 . ) So far as ( he lie ) knows , the Green River is not ( acces- acces ) ( sible silble ) from the plateau after ( entering entering- entering ) the canyon , but he saw wild horses and cattle tracks , indicating that they had found their way down to the river from the plateau .
