Show . Best Expedition in 1891 G10 was his next trip through Glen Canyon . Boats same as used on second ( Stan- Stan ) ton Expedition . Started from Green River bridge , at ( Green- Green ) river , Utah . Did not find channel in same place as on first Stanton expedition ; channel disappeared somewhere else . ( R . ( 2194-2195 2191-2195 ) . ) Same trouble on bars frequently , down to ( cata- cata ) racts . Boat No . ( 1 I ) lost in ( Cataract CatdTact ) Canyon . Run the rapids . ( ( E R ) . 2196 . ) In Glen Canyon had sand and bars to contend with - the channel in Colorado not as bad or ( change change- change ) able as on the Green , but sand is moving all the time ; tried backing ( oft off ) with oars , but oars went down in sand so far , hard to get them out . ( R . 2196 . ) More water in river then than at time of Second Stanton Expedition , about the same as the first Stanton . Does not believe water across ledge ( in Glen Canyon ) averages over six or eight inches deep . Ledge extends from one side to the other , and up and down for 75 or 100 yards . ( R . 2197-2198 . ) Encountered Trachyte and Bull Frog Rapids in Glen Canyon . ( R . 2198 . ) ( Supplies SuppHes ) were obtained from ( "Wheeler Wheeler 'Wheeler Wheeler ) brothers near Greenriver and no other supplies obtained below Greenriver . Terminated expedition at Lees ( Perry Ferry ) , went out to Kanab along old mail route . ( R . 2199-2200 . ) Four or five months afterwards went back into I |
