Between the mouth of the ( San Saii ) Rafael and the mouth of the Green River ( con- con ) ( siderable -siderable siderable ) trouble was encountered in the form of sand bars , gravel bars , rock , and shallow water ; the trip in all taking about five days . ( Encountered neouiltered ) a great ( many mally ) obstacles ; there was rock in the river that fortunately showed up so could see them , and ( didn't didnt ) jamb into these rocks in the Green River . Had to pick course from time to time , and sometimes was in brush , and sometimes was rubbing the rock on the side . It was anything but a pleasant trip for ( what -what what ) they called the maiden trip . ( R . 668-669 . ) Got on other sand bars between the San Rafael and the mouth of the Green River . Got off a good . deal in way described ; some of them ( weren't werent ) so bad as the first one encountered ; must have spent ( three-quarters threequarters ) of a day getting off that first sand bar . ( R . 669 . ) Does not recall going down ; that many hours were spent in getting off bars ; believes that they were hung up several times maybe for two or three hours , maybe an hour , as the case might be ; but was working as fast as could ; ( wanted waiited ) to make |
