Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show Theniouth of the San 240 Juan River was ( reached reaelied ) October 5th at 2.30 , where ( Trimble's Trimbles ) party was found . One boat with supplies was left there with Mr . ( Trimble's Trimbles ) party and ( he lie ) [ Kolb ] with the ( bal- bal ) ance then proceeded on down to Lees Ferry . Those accompanying him were Mr . Page , Mr . Miser , who joined the party at the mouth of the San Juan , and Mr . LaRue . One of the boats had formerly been left with ( Mr Air ) . Chenoweth at Halls Crossing . Fifteen hundred pounds of supplies were hauled on the two boats from Halls Crossing to the mouth of the San Juan . ( R . 848-850 . ) Trouble with sand bars was encountered on the trip between Halls Crossing and the mouth of the San Juan and the boats would sometimes have to be , pushed off the sand bars ; and the boatmen took turns in getting out of the boat into the water and pushing them free . This had to be done a number of times by each . From the mouth of the ( San Sall ) ( Juan Juall ) down to Lees Ferry , trouble with sand bars was encountered ( fre- fre ) quently , as a matter of fact , most of the trouble encountered on the trip was had at this section of the river . Most of these sand bars occur between . the mouth of the San Juan and the Utah line . As Lees Ferry is ( iieared neared ) , the water becomes deep and the sand bars fewer . ( R . 850-852 . ) One rapid just below Bridge Canyon occurs in this section of the river ( between bet-ween between ) the mouth of the San ( Juan Tuan ) and the Utah line . Other points where |
