Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

( Further Yurther ) examination ( R . vol . 5 , pp . 981 ) : He states that oil was struck at the junction of the Green and the Colorado Rivers . Oil men would get their supplies down by boat . The . road from ( Moab Afoab ) to Monticello passes through unsettled high country , LaSalle being about nine miles east of the road . ( The Tihe ) country between ( the 'the the ) ( road Toad ) and the Colorado River is broken by ( run-off runoff ) canyons to the straight bluffs of the bank . Redirect ( examination examivation ) ( R . vol . 5 , 982-988 ) : - There is no road in Lockhart Canyon but there is a road into Indian Creek . The road to Indian Creek ( turns turiis ) off about ten miles ( north 'north north ) of ( Mon Afon- Afon ) ticello and runs through what is called Hard Draw country . ( Indian Indiaii ) ( Creek Creelc ) empties into the Colorado River . He has ( hauled bauled ) ( oil-well oilwell ) equipment down Indian Creek overland .
