Show S2 a fill ( amounting aniotinting ) to almost four feet throughout the greater portion of the ( cross-section crosssection ) , and a scour of a foot between Stations 325 and 369 . . In other words , this chart shows the rapidity of the amount of scour and fill taking place in the Colorado River at Lees ( Perry Ferry ) as shown by actual measurements made . Similar characteristic ( information inforination ) ( 'is is ) shown for each of the gaging stations on Plates ( I-A IA ) , ( 92-A 92A ) , ( 3-A 3A ) , ( 4-A7 4A7 ) ( 5-A 5A ) , ( 011 on ) which is shown the Colorado River ( near ilear ) ( Cisco-Lees CiscoLees ) ( Perry Ferry ) . Before we leave Lees ( Perry Ferry ) , Plate ( 3-A 3A ) shows the rapidity with which changes may take place , as shown by five ( measurements me"-surements mesurements ) made May 2 , 1927 , May 3 , 4 , 5 , and 7 , showing the scour and fill in a period of three or four days ; the Station at 250 having a scour of five feet during that period ; the Station at 340 feet , , the maximum change was only a foot , indicating at that particular place in the cross section that there was only a change of a foot during that period ; ; while at Station 460 there was a scour of ( approxi- approxi ) mately four feet during that same period . . The plate shows the rapidity in which the bed of the river changes , and gives some idea of the magnitude . . The data produced here at a gaging station is the only place where it is possible to get ( measure measure- measure ) ments of this kind ; it is the only place where ( meas- meas ) uremeuts of this ldnd have been taken , , as far as the Geological Survey is concerned . . |
