Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

( R . 1506 . ) The ( hig big ) boat up at the Crossing of the Fathers ( "was was was ) used for hauling supplies to the camps , Mr . ( "Fowler's Fowlers ) camp and a man ( named nalued ) Leach . Mr . ( IFowler's IFowlers ) camp was on the left bank going ( down doNxrn ) . . ( ifrom jrom ) the Crossing of the Fathers ; that would have ( made tnade ) it ( on oil ) the east bank , and at the Crossing of - . , the Fathers , as he remembers it . ( R . 1506 . ) The other place where they were ( hauling ba-aling baaling ) supplies was upstream from the Crossing of the . Fathers . He ( doesn't doesnt ) know how far upstream . The reservoir site at Lees Ferry was designed to back the water up close to the junction of the Green and Grand [ Colorado ] Rivers , up to . the ( thirty- thirty ) nine hundred foot contour . ( R . 1507 . ) The . ( sur- sur ) veying of that reservoir site was one of the purposes of going there . When they got through at Lees Ferry he went by truck to Flagstaff , and on the way the truck brolcq down . ( R . 1508-1509 . ) Further ( examination exainination ) ( R . Vol . 8 , p . 1509 ) : To a certain extent this survey was confined to a traverse ; it was traversed to where we hit the ( thirty-nine thirtynine ) hundred foot contour .
