Show River , during the placer 571 milling boom of 1892 . He left the railroad at ( Qreenriver Greenrive- Greenrive ) , ( Utah Utab ) , had a pack ( train traiii ) of horses and ( mules mitles ) and went through ( Hanks Hanks- Hanks ) ¬ ville to Hite , across the Colorado River , up White Canyon , and south to the San Juan River about ( forty Torty ) miles below Bluff . He was hired to make this trip by the Rio ( Grande Graiide ) Western Railroad . ( R . ( 1925-1926 1.9-95-1926 ) . ) When he left the San ( Juan J-dan Jdan ) River he came back , north to Red Canyon and to the Colorado River . He was accompanied by an engineer from the ( rail rail- rail ) road company ; they picked up an old boat and went down the Colorado River ( fifteen fifteeia ) or twenty ( miles iniles ) , then towed the boat back up to where they had left their pack animals across the river , and returned to ( Greenriver Greenrirer ) , Utah , by the way of Hanksville . He followed the same route from Greenriver , Utah , to Hanksville , as he had done with the second Stanton Expedition , and he ( didn't didnt ) see any change ( in ill ) the country as to population . From Hanksville to the Colorado River on that trip , he went down the next canyon south of Crescent Creek [ North Wash ] , which ( brouglit brought ) them right down to Hite , but he ( doesn't doesnt ) ( know knoNv ) the name of the creek [ Trachyte Creek ] . ( R . 1926-1927 . ) Hite and Dandy Crossing are the same . He crossed at Dandy Crossing and believes it was in December , 1892 , or January , 1893 .
