Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Show The only boat he saw 719 on the river was a small , rowboat belonging to ( Humphreys Elumphreys ) ; saw no ( boats boats- boats ) going up ( tlie the ) river . JR . 2764 . ) Trachyte Rapids is located just below entrance of Trachyte Canyon . ( ( E R ) . 2765 . ) He surveyed nearly ( two-thirds twothirds ) of township near Halls Creek . The land on both sides was barren sand rock . Baker was putting about five acres of land under cultivation . ( ( E R ) . 2765 . ) No one else living there . ( ( E R ) . 2766 . ) He made a survey of three ( townships townsllips ) near Henry Mountains . There were three small farms in there , all under 40 acres . One man had a prospect gold mine near Wolverton . ( R 2766-2767 . ) He ( received recei-ved received ) supplies from Notom and part of his supplies from Hanksville by wagon . Notom is 18 miles west of Hanksville in ( Pleasain't Pleasaint ) Creek locality . , It is an old road , very poor , and ( used ased ) very little . ( E . ( 2767-2768 276-7-2768 ) . ) He then surveyed on Boulder Mountain and thence to ( Bieknell Bicknell ) , and disbanded . Boulder ( Moun- Moun ) tain is situated west of Hanksville . In 1924 ( he be ) worked with Mr . Moore in the ( country- country ) , . south of the San Juan River , in Copper Canyon . His testimony the same as Mr . Moore .
