Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

In the country west of ( Bluff Bluft ) where they ran cattle and ( pasturage' pasturage pasturage ) was found in the draws ( and aiid ) ( on oil ) the ( sloping slopilicr ) hills . South of Cedar Ridge there is some grass growing some years , some ( years ycars ) it ( doesn't doesnt ) . There was more grass there than where they had been grazed in the summer . There was brush all over there . They call it Black brush and cattle do fairly well on it in a ( wet Aret ) fall and so do sheep . ( R . 564-565 . ) They shipped their cattle to Denver mostly . . They would generally drive them to Dolores , ( Colo- Colo ) rado , on the A & R . G . ( narrow uarrow ) gauge and some are loaded at Thompson Springs .
