Sa couleur efr d 'un gris rou1fe~tre, quelquefois d'un roux oliv: icre, quclquefois citrin , & quelcrucfois enfin o'une aurore pllle. Le chapeau efr convexe, & fon milieu efr muni communement d'un mamelon d'un roux brun plus foncc q,ue le refl:e de f:l fi.Iperficie. Il efi: double de lames jaunitres , ou qui tirent Cur la coulcur de bois. Le pcdicule efr un peu long, ,le plus fouvcmt plein, couvert de petits f1ocons de £eaux dcchircc• , & garni d'un collet frangc ou iil:tiUenceux , de mediocre apparence. Cc pcdicule A M.A eft tortueux & d'une couleur pfus foncec ! {:t bafc r1uc dans fa partie f'upcrieure. Ccs lames font blanches dans la plame e, , qui cfr peut-ctre ~ne e~pece confrante & difiinCle. L'Amanite comefhble ie trouvc en automne, dans les pres fees ~pres de~ plu.ies do~ces , dans les vergers , les allees des prdms , fur ~e bord des chemins &:: fur les pclouics. On la fatt venir en tom terns dans les j ardins , iitr des couches contpofces de fumier de cheval, & preparees convenablemem pour cet objet. Elle a une odeur & un go(tt agreables. Ce Champignon s'employ~ ordinairement dans les ragot"tts. On le mange aulT1 cuit fur Ie' gril avec du beurr~ frai~ , d~. fel & du poivrc. Dans tOllS les cas' JC CI:OlS crutl efr prudent d'cn mm(Ter avec moderation, ainfi que des autres plante~ de ce ge~ re & ~erne de ce:te famille, qui paffent pour n (ltre pomt da~gereules.
