Ce chapeau eil: d'un gris fauve ou quelquefois d'un roux terreux. Il eft double de lames brunes , fuligineu!es, off~z larges , incgalcs, & qui font mouchetces dans la plante e. On trouve cctte efptke en ct6 & en automne, fur les boufes de vaches fur le terreau des couches, & dans les jardins & les pre~, fur des feuilles pourdes, ou filr des fragmens de bois mort. Son chapeau efr petit, gris: ltre, toujours tranfparent, plus ou moins convexe, ~luche en H\ fuperficie, & n'a que tres-pcu d'epaifleur. Ses bords fe dechirent des qu'ils commencent i fe dcvclopper , {e roulent fur euxJll~ mes, & fe fondent en une eau noire comme de l'encrc. Ses feuillets font etroits & rarement en tiers ; le pediculc efr tres-menu , fiftuleux , & fort long relativement a la petitelfe du chapeau ' done il cgale au moins quatre fois le diametre par fa longueur. On trouve ce Champignon dans les prairies, les bois, pendant l'cte & l'automne, fur les boufes de vache , & parmi le crottin de cheval , de mulet , &c. Son chapeau eft petit, campanule-conique , jaunitre ou d'un roux ferrugineux , & a fa iuperficie remarquable par des plis nombreux ou des cannelures regulieres qui font paroitre fon bord fefronnc. Ce chapeau eft tres-m~nce, & il efl: double de feuillcts enders & de demi-feuillets, places alternativement les uns avec les autres. le pedicule qui 1outient ce cha, peau eft tres-menu ' fifruleux' egal dans toute fa 1~ng~eur, & au moins trois fois plus long que le dtametrc du chapeau. Les !ames dont il ell: double font d'un blanc de lait, & nombreufes . .Son pcdicule efl: epais ' bulbeux a fa bafe ' plein' blanc , & haut de quatre a fix pouces. Ce pcdiculc en fe developpant fort d'une enveloppe membraneufe qui l'en~ fermoit dans fa jcuneffe. Qn trouve ce Champignon dans les bois , m) il efr affez commun. On 1e dit pernicieux , & propre pour faire mourir lcs mouches & les punaifes. M. Bulliard dit qu'en ayant fait manger ~ deux c.. hats, , ils font morts fix heure{) apres ; & il rafPorte une pareille experience de M. Paulet, f;tite fur des chiens, qui a produit le m~me cfl~t. La varietc {d. n'ayant point de cubcrculcs blancs fur fon chapeau , pourroit ~tre confondue avec l'Oronge vraie , qui efl: l'efpece fuiv:mte; ~is l'Oronge faufie dont il s'agit, fe difl:ingue de l'autre par fon valva, qui eft incornplet , & qui dans la jeuneffe de la plante, n'env..Ioppe que le pedicule & non le chapeau, comme dans l'Oronge dont il efr fait mention ci-aprcs. 46. On la trouve auffi aux environs d'Etampes.
