Ccttc plame a quelquc relfemblance avec cclle qui fuit; mais fcs biles ont quatre valves, deux cxternes & deux internes , comme dans les autres dpeccs de ce genre; ce qui nc fe rencontrc point dans la fuivante. Lcs feuilles font fort rapprochCei.l les unes des autres, difpofces fur deux rangs oppofcs , roulees en leurs bords , un peu piquanrcs comme lcs feuilles de jonc, vertes & un peu vclues de chaque c8tc a leur bafe. Les fleurs forment une panicule ouvertc, ovale , diifu{c , & qui eft accompagn6e d'une feuille grande, pale , icrvant de braace. Les hiles calicinales font uniflorcs & compofees de deux valves, dont l'une plus petite s'ccarte {(mlc , & !'autre renferme la bale florale. Cette plante cro1t abondamment aupres d'Alexandric , dans les fables qui bordent le Nil. Elle parolt a voir des rapports avec l'Agrojlis a fiuille& de jonc, n°. 3L 17. A la bafe des feuilles, c'efl:-3-dire a !'entree de leur ga1ne' on voit une pe-tite membrane blanche appliquee contre la tigc. La panicule de fleurs efi longue d'un pouce & dcmi, diverfement ramifice , & ala forme d'un cpi. Les deux valves de la bale exterieure font crctelees ' & deux fois plus longucs que celles de la bale florale , dont l'une des deux un peu plus gt·ande, eft chargee d'une barbe courre.
