Je n:ai pas vu le fruit: felon les Auteurs , c efl: une no1x ovale, de la groffeur cl'une grenade ou d'un reuf d'oie, verdatre , un reu comprimce d'un c~cc ·' par!emee .de petit~ points blancs , dont la cha1r efi fibreufe ~ & c1u1 renferme deux noyaux affez gros. Ce frutt efi un poi!on qui excite le :·omi~emc:nt ; !1 nah quclquefois par couple , felon 1 obfervatwn de Rumphe. On trouve cet arbre dans Ies Indes orientales. b . C'efi, au rapport de Rumphe, un arbre laiteux, qui a beaucoup de reffcmblance avec le pnk6dent: fon tronc cfi court' epais ' & recouvert d'une ecorce unie , variee de gris & de verd. Scs feuilles font la plupan oppo{ces , petiolees , ovales , un pcu ob~uies ~ rctnkies vers leur petiole ' glabres ' & longues de fept i dix pouces , fur deux i trois pouces de Iargeur. S~s fleurs font petites, & difpo! ces en pouquets ou en panicule courte dans les aiffelles des feuilles iuperieures. Leur fruit efi une noix ovo'ide , verte , qui acquiert une couleur roui~e:itre en m1~rifbnt , & qui renfermc deux noyaux applatis & ofleux. Cet arbre croit dans les Jfles Moluques. 1) . . Apres elles, leur grappe porte ordinaircment un ou deux fruits oblongs, point us, & pleins d'un fuc laiteux , ainii que k:s feuilles & les autres parties de cet- arbre. Chaque fruit efi une efpece de noix ou une coque longue de trois pouces , iur un pouce de large , utl peu comprimee lateralernent , munie d'un lillon dans l!:t longueur , ayatu fa chair inuhieure ferme, & con tenant deux ou trois noyaux irreguliers. La coque vuide & deflechee efi i demi-fendue en deux dans fa partie fuperieure , & reffemble en quclque forte i une moucle. Rumphe ajoute neanmoins qu'on en trouve de di1fercnres formes , & qu'il y en a qui font plus counes & plus arrondies. Cet arbre cro!t dans les Moluques & les Ifles de Ia Sonde. b. AIGR.EMOINE , AGRIMONIA. Genre de plante i fleurs polypetalees , de la famille des Rofacccs, & qui comprend des herbcs vivaces qui ont beaucoup de rapgort avec lcs Potent-illes. La fleur a U? calicc monophile , perfifiant , partag6 a {on {ommet en cinq d€coupures ' & encour6 extcdej.lrement d'un autre calice frange, ou heriffe de petites pointes. L'entree de fon tube e£1: tellement refH:rree, qu'elle lui donne une fauffe apparence de calice fuperieur au pifl:il. Lafleur a en outre cinq petales planes, ouverts en rofe, & iniercs fur le bord de la gorge etroitc du calice ; fept a quinze e~amines attachees au calice' & moins longues que les petales ; & un ou deutc ovaires enfermcs dans le tube du calice , & charges chacun d'un ftylc faillant hors de fon tube. Le fruit efr une ef'pece de capfule formce par le calice, dont la gorge s'efr emicrcment fermce , & qui renferme une ou deux femenccs arrondies : Cette capl'ule eft heriffee de pointes crochues , ou efi couronnce d'unefrange par la prefence du calice exterieur. Les feuilles font allces avec impaire; mais Ia foli.ole impaire qui les termine eft .feffile. Les fleurs font ramaffces en un cpi tcrmmal , court & denfe. Les tiges font greles , foibles ' velues ' a peine plus longues que les feuilles radicales , chargces chacune d'u nP. couple de feuilles petiolces , ternces , & fou~ienncnt .a leur fommet un petit faifceau compofc de tro1s ou quaere fleurs jaunes. Les fruits de cette efpece font monofpermcs, ont , leur bord frange p~r la, pr~fence du cal ice exterieur, & ne font pomt henftes de pointes c rochues comme ceux des autres efpeces. On trouve cette plante en Italie & dans le Carniole, dans les Jieux orribragcs & humides. 7P. ( v. v. ) Elle fleurit au commencement de Mai.
