It is a narive of Virginia. Morifon calls it, Rapuntium galeatum Virginianum coccineo flare majore ; Ruppius, Cardinalis Rivini. The other fpecies of Lobelia are, r. The root is fibrous, and fends out feveral oblong, round, tender, creeping 11:alks ~ from thefe, at certain difiances, grow tufts of leaves; they are fmall, round, and crenated at the edges, and fiand on moderately long pedides :· among thefe rife other pedicles, of an inch or two in length, on the fummit of each of which .fiands a fmall, yellow flower, like the common blue Violet in ihape. It is a native of our marlhes in the north of England. C. Bauhine calls it, Viola Alpina rotundifolia lutea. The other fpecies of Violet are, I.
