The root is oblong, thick, hard, woody, and black : the f11rub rifes to three feet . high, and is all over of a white, hoary colour : the leaves fiand three, four, or five together, without pedicles, furrounding the fialk in a radiated manner : the flowers are white, and much refemble thofe of the common white trefoil; they fiand in a kind of heads, at the tops of the branches. It is a native of France. C. Bauhine calls it, Trifolium album angufiifolium floribus congefi:is. There are but two other known fpecies, I. The taller, broader-leaved Dorycnium. 2. The larger-flowered Dorycnium. PSORALEA. T HE calyx is full of little, fcabrous protuberances, and is of the length of the pod : the pod contains only one feed. . P.foralea foliis pinnatis. It is a native of Ethiopia. Rivinus calls it, Spartium Africanum; others have made it a dorycnium The other fpecies are, I. The Pforalea, called the bituminous T refoil. 2.
