A To put in an amalgamator; that is, it was dredge, only a dry land dredge, steam shovel, run electrically, a regular outfit to handle about a yard of gravel a minute. Q At what point on the river? Is there some well-known bar where that was located? A No, it was just some bars that were located there. Q How did you bring that machinery down the river? A By wagon. Q Did you go down the east or the west side of the river? A Came down the west and crossed the river with it; one hundred tons. Q That is, you forded the river? A We forded the river. Q What month,-- do you recall? A I think it must have been along in September or October, I can't tell you just exactly. Q How long did you remain in that country? A A year.
