Show 3782 Rodin- D 1803 Q Did that occur several times, or just how many times did it occur between Greenriver, Utah, and the mouth of the Green river? A The first two days it was quite a few times. Q How did you get these boats off when they stuck? A If they was stuck on a sandbar, sometimes work them back and forth and they go off, but sometimes have to get out and push. Q Do you recall that stretch of the river that is known as Labyrinth canyon? A Not much. That is where the Double Bowknot is? Q Yes. A Yes, I recall part of it. Q Did your party encounter any difficulty with sandbars is there? A Yes. Q Can you tell me the extent of it, how many times you encountered them? A I couldn't tell exactly, but sometimes we come across islands, the river having islands in the middle, dry sand, and the channel will divide, go on both sides of the bank, you see, and then if you are not watching, the swift current will shove you across these bars called dry islands. Then naturally boat stuck on it, have to get out |
