A I was. Q Was that part of your work, to view the river as you came down? A It was; that was the sole reason of my recognizance, to view the river with the idea of discovering and locating and surveying dam sites. Q At what points did you view it? Did you come down into the river bed? A I traversed the river bed practically all of the distance from Farmington to Arboles, and from Farmington on to Bluff I followed the roar that leads down the river; the passage- way along the banks of the river was impossible in many places; you could get into the river here and there through the canyon and view it, which I did, but didn't follow immediately down the bank of the river from Farmington to Bluff.
