Show 3856 Gerdine- D 1877 A Yes, that is just along the alluvial plane adjacent to the river. When the river is high, it is probably submerged, and would be a sandbar. Q Anybody coming down the river at the time this map was made and seeing that map could avoid that bar, couldn't they? A No obstruction at all; the influence of it might extent out into the water, and probably does; but it is not shown on the map. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Isn't it true the only bars which are shown on the map are those bars which are exposed? A Yes. Q At the time the topographer goes through there? A Yes BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q For instance, take sheet F, along at mile 66 and 70, there are apparently those enclosures out in the channel or in the river itself, are those bars? A Yes sir, those are sandbars, one right opposite 68 is a sandbar or little island of considerable size; then down just opposite mile 66 you will see quite a long sandbar. Q Mile 60? A Yes. BY MR.
