Show 3820 Priest- D 1841 Q In figuring a dam at that point two hundred and fifty feet high, did you figure the possible effect of the sand and silt in the river upon that dam? A I gave every consideration, yes, but had no means of determining what that would be, as I didn't have in fact silt samples at any point taken on the stream at that time, but they ware taken afterwards, I understand. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q What consideration could you give to it, then? A In that it was very silty. Q Mr. Blackmar; asked you if you gave it consideration. If there were no figures on the silt, what scientific consideration could you give to it? A Perhaps none, excepting to take it into consideration and so report. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Did you make a recognizance of the possible irrigable lands above the dam site? A No, I didn't; the purpose of the reservoir on the San Juan was not for irrigation of any area on the San Juan. The idea was storage, up stream storage of the Colorado river for flood control work. Q It had nothing to do with irrigating any of the land? A No, it had not. |
