Show 3834 Gerdine- D 1855 Q So that you spent that night below Warm Creek? A Yes, I think it was at a spring; how far that spring is from warm creek I don't recall, but at that spring we cached these provisions we were taking up, so that the topo-graphic parties could pick them up in the small boats they were using on the stream. Q Did you continue the trip next day? A No, we went back to Lees Ferry in the boat. Q Why didn't the boat continue on up the river? A Too much of a struggle. Q Did you have plenty of fuel? A Oh, yes. Q Do you recall whether or not you consulted the gauge records there at Lees Ferry? A No, the only recollection I have of that is, they were measuring the stream when I was there, and I just recall Mr. La Rue saying there was probably in the neighborhood -- I think I recall him saying there was twenty- five to twenty- eight thousand second feet passing Lees Ferry at that time. Q Is that the last trip that you made on that boat? A No, I made a subsequent trip on the boat, a short trip. Q Whereabouts? A From Lees Ferry up the river five or six miles. |
