A I think the description on would be practically the same; forty- eight or fifty rapids in a length of thirty- nine or forty miles; rocky in there; the larger part of them filled with water as they went through. One upset in the canyon was all; we were very fortunate in that we ran every rapid except the head of Dark canyon, located in Cataract canyon. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Who was in charge of this expedition? A Frank B. Dodge was head boatman; Mr. La Rue was technical director; Mr. smith was the assistant director of the movie company. Q Did Mr. La Rue assist in operating the boats? A No sir; at times he rowed for a little while, to relieve the boatman, which all us passengers did, but not generally. Q Were you in the court room when Mr. Rodin testified? A No sir. Q Were you here when Mr. Clark testified? A Just a few -- not that I remember any of his testimony; I was called into the anteroom. Q After you left Cataract canyon just tell me, please, about the progress from then on down to Lees Ferry. A We came out of Cataract canyon the day after Thanksgiving |
