Show 3876 Edwards- D 1897 four or five houses. Q From Hanksville you proceeded down -- A To the head of Crescent canyon, as it was called then, then down Crescent canyon to the river. Q Did you launch the boats there? A Yes sir. Q Did you have any difficult in getting them in the water? A No sir. Q What date did you leave Crescent creek? A I think it was on my birthday, December 6th, somewhere very close there. Q What year? A 1889, 6th or 7th; we either handed there the 6th or left there the 6th; I couldn't say positively. Q What was the purpose of this second Stanton expedition? A A railway survey. Q From where to where? A It was called the Denver, Colorado canyon and Pacific railroad, starting from Denver and crossing the range about where the Moffat road does not now; down the Grand to the junction of the Grand and Green, down the Colorado to about where -- somewhere near Colorado canyon, just below there, and then across to San Diego. Q Will you describe, please, the progress of this expedition from the mouth of Crescent creek down? |
