A It had two cables that ran from the boat up to the cable that spanned the river; we would take these cables loose from the boat, and then handle the boat with the lines and poles. Q Did you have some assistance there in operating this ferry? A At time I did, yes sir. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q When the boat ran on the cable it was carries across by the force of the current? A Yes sir. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Was that ferry boat a private enterprise of yours? A No sir, it belonged to the county. Q You were a salaried employee of the county? A Yes sir. Q For how long a time did you operate that ferry boat? A About eighteen months. Q Commencing about when, Mr. Clark? A In May, 1923, until about February, 1925. |
