Show 3721 Clark- C 1742 Q How do you figure it only took you two and a half days, when you left Lees Ferry in the morning and were three nights on the river before you started to come back? A We didn't start back at the and of the two and a half days; we spent three nights on the river and then started back the next morning. Q Now, did you use any gasoline coming back? A Used what we had, yes sir. Q Used up all of the two gallons. You know how much gasoline you had when you turned around to come back, didn't you? A Just estimated; it was in a tank, just made a guess at it. Q You know you didn't have much? A Yes sir. Q You didn't even know you had as such as two gallons? A We couldn't swear to it, just estimated, what I say. Q As a matter of fact, you turned around to come back because you were out of gasoline, didn't you? A It wasn't a matter of fact of that, either. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q You couldn't have gone up any further with that amount of gasoline, could you? A No, sir; we couldn't have. |
