Show 3844 Gerdine- D 1885 Q What I am trying to find out, the elevations which are indicated upon these drawings are the correct elevations? A As far as we are able to determine. Q What do you mean by that? A For instance, a contour map is a map on which the lines are supposed to represent equal elevations or heights above sea level throughout its whole course. You can imagine, for instance, if you had to determine every point on that line, you could readily see it would be a physical impossibility, because you couldn't do it. We determined enough elevations throughout the area to enable the man to sketch those contours as near as he can on the scale of the map. Q Then all of the measurements which appear upon these maps are determined by scientific instruments? A Oh, yes. Q And barring the probable error which exists everyplace, they are correct? A Yes. Q Starting here with the map which is designated as sheet A in Exhibit 10, directing your attention to the blue line which appears between the contours, what does that represent? A That is the edge of the stream at the time the survey was made, the right and left banks of the stream. |
