Show 3914 Edwards- D 1935 afterwards moved to Idaho. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q The dredge was abandoned? A It was finally sold and moved to Idaho. Q How long was it worked? A It was in there about a year, I think. Q Take out any gold? A Took several months to get it in there and get it in operation; then winter came, it got pretty cold, had to kind of lay off until spring before we could do anything. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q I understood you to say this was electrically operated? A Yes sir; had a boiler -- two one hundred horsepower boilers, steam engine, electric generator; this dredge was run by motors. Q What kind of fuel did you use? A Coal. Q About how much coal a day? A I couldn't say as to that; some days we would use quiet a little; when we had a break- down, or trouble, we wouldn't use so much. Q What do you mean by quite a little? A I would say five or six or eight tons a day of coal. Q How was that coal brought in? A By wagon. |
