Show 3754 Stone- D 1775 Dudendorf of Myton, Utah, not far from Richfield; Mr. C. C. Sharp, of Nelsonville, Ohio; and Mr. R. A. Cogswell, and myself. Q Do you recall the day you left Green River, Wyoming? A Yes sir; on Sunday, the 12th of September, 1909. Q How was the party arranged in these boats? A Mr. Gallowway had a boat to himself, so did Mr. Sharp, so did I; Dudendorf carried Cogswell in his boat. Cogswell was a phottographer. Mr. Sharp and Mr. Galloway and I Carried the supplies through the expedition, that is, practically all of them. Q Had Mr. Galloway had any experience on the river? A Yes sir, a great deal. Q Did he also act as guide? A As such as anybody could. Q Just describe the progress of this expedition from Green River, Wyoming, down to Greenriver, Utah. A We naturally followed the river in the open part of it, between Green River, Wyoming, and the north Utah line, which marks the beginning of the entire canyon system, practically. Through that open country, I think we covered that in about three, maybe four days. We had quite a little trouble with sand and mud bars, but not to amount to anything, that is, they just impeded the progress, made a little bother in getting off of them here and there. |
