Show 3708 Clark- D 1729 A Yes sir. Q Why did you turn around and come back? A Well, I seen it was impossible to make it with the equipment that I had, so I gave up the idea of going on. Q Coming back up to Lee Ferry did you have any difficulty in operating the boat? A No sir, I took it easy, and coming down stream kept in the current and had no difficulties at all. Q Are you able to tell me how long it took you to come back? A Well, it took about -- just about six hours, I would say, running time. Q Mr. Clark, prior to your first trip had you procured some kind of license, engineer's license? A I had a pilot's license for carrying passengers on the river, a government license. Q Was your boat a license boat? A Yes sir. Q What was your object in licensing the boat? A What I was figuring on doing was taking people to Rainbow bridge. Q That is, people who came in to Lees Ferry? A Yes sir; tourists. Q Did you experiment some more with the river? A Not with that boat; I experimented with out- board |
