Show 3827 Gerdine- D 1848 A 1921. Q And for what purpose? A Primarily the surveys made under my supervision was to determine the extent and capacity of reservoir power, a proposed dam in Glen canyon about five miles above Lees Ferry. Q What height dam was contemplated? A The survey was made with the knowledge that there might be a dam eight hundred feet in height at that place. Of course other studies might have made it impossible to make a dam of that height, but that was the height the dam was to be made. In other words, the data was collected for that height of dam, eight hundred foot dam. Q Was that work done in conjunction with some other firm? A Yes, done in connection -- in cooperation with the Southern California Edison Electric Company of California. Q Were you personally on the ground? A Yes -- I wasn't on the ground throughout the whole survey; I had many parties throughout the west. I tried to visit them all during the field season. I visited these parties while the work was in operation, saw them in various places. Q When did you first enter the Colorado country? A My recollection is it was in July, 1921. Just the exact date I do not recall. |
