Show 3745 Stone- D 1766 the two people who lived at Hite, or Dandy crossing, Johnny Hite and Fred Gibbons, they were prospectors, they had some placer claims there, and up white canyon, that they were holding down, to use a western term; then there was a gentleman by the name of Case Hite lived a little way below Hite post office, where John Hite and Fred Gibbons lived; he lived there all by himself, had a little shanty and garden, had been there quite a little while. Q Was there a post office at Hits at that time? A Yes sir, there was at that time. Q Do you know how the mail was brought in to Hite? A By pack horses. Q From where? A From Greenriver; I think they had two mails a week there at that time; that is my recollection. Q By way of Hankeville? A Yes sir, by way of Hanksville.
